Searching for a manufacturer isn’t easy, not when you’re worried about finding one that you can trust. If you’re looking at options and every company looks the same as the next one, here are questions that can help you differentiate the best from the rest.
Do You Have Minimum Order Requirements?
Some companies have minimum order requirements. You’ll need to check to make sure your orders will be accepted. Some companies, though, can support smaller quantities but they’ll charge you a little more for that to cover any of their processing costs. If that sounds fair and convenient to you, then you’ll want to keep that company at the top of your list.
Do I Get Certs Along with My Order?
First, does your material need compliance to a standard like ASTM, DFARS, or AMS? You’ll need to let the company know. That’s because not all aluminum forgings manufacturers might have the resources or expertise to meet that requirement. Letting them know right from the start will help the company determine if they’re up for the job.
How Soon Can You Ship This Out?
You want a speedy delivery, of course. So, ask the company what their lead time is. Knowing that the company can meet the urgency of your project timeline is a good sign. However, if you’re not in much of a hurry, you can go with the standard delivery option. No rushing is required, as long as you’ve checked the delivery date and it’s still well within your window. You can save on costs when you don’t ask for rush orders, since rush requests usually come with extra charges.
How Long Have You Been in Business?
It’s easy to check the company’s records to learn more about its background and experience in the industry. But this question also works in opening up the conversation. A long-standing business is ideal, though, especially if you’re looking for long-term business partners.
